The Cisco AS5400 Series Universal Gateway is a reliable, scalable data and voice gateway in only two rack units. It supports public switched telephone network signaling, gateway signaling, voice codecs, fax, VoiceXML, RADIUS, Tool Command Language, and interactive voice response. Service provider data and voice applications are also supported.

The Cisco AS5400 Series includes the Cisco AS5400HPX Universal Gateway, which provides enhanced performance for processor-intensive voice and fax applications, and the Cisco AS5400XM which provides double the performance of the Cisco AS5400 and AS5400HPX models thus allowing current applications to run faster and at a lower CPU utilization.
