Designed for both Enterprise and Service Provider environments, the Cisco ONS 15501 Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) is a low-noise, gain flattened C-band optical amplifier designed to extend the distance of today's Metro DWDM optical network. It complements Cisco ONS 15500 DWDM solution providing customers with the capability to extend their 100GHz, 32-channel, 2.5Gbps / 10Gbps optical infrastructure over longer distances. The ONS 15501 integrates seamlessly with Catalyst 6500, Cisco 7600, and Cisco 12000 to provide inter-POP extension and the interconnection of remote campuses over 10 Gigabit Ethernet or SONET/SDH OC-192/STM-64.
