ONS 15501 EDFA Optical Amplifier

The Cisco 15501 Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) is a gain flattened C-band optical amplifier that extends Metro DWDM optical networks. The Cisco ONS 15501 complements Cisco ONS 15500 DWDM solution and allows expansion of 100GHz, 32-channel, 2.5Gbps/10Gbps optical infrastructure over longer distances. The Cisco ONS 15501 integrates with Catalyst 6500, Cisco 7600, and Cisco 12000 to offer inter-POP extensions. Frontier offers used and refurbished Cisco 15501 EDFAs.

Features

• Constant gain and noise figure over the input power range of -29 to 0 dBm simplifies network design
• Highly precise, rapid AGC capabilities allow the Cisco ONS 15501 to be used as a booster or inline amplifier
• The overshoot and undershoot amplitudes are consistently <1.0 dB, even for the most drastic optical power level changes
• The Cisco ONS 15501 is fully manageable through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and has a console port to facilitate setup and monitoring of the unit.
• Using the supplied MIB file, all parameters that can be monitored and set can be made available remotely
