The Cisco ONS 15216 is designed to deliver more services per wavelength and more wavelengths per fiber. The Cisco 15216 allows a maximum of 32 ITU-grid wavelengths and delivers transport flexibility with optical filtering, OADM, optical monitoring, and amplification.

• 18 wavelength Mux/Demux—The Cisco ONS 15216-Mux/Demux consists of a base and an upgrade module and provides scalable filtering of up to 18 ITU wavelengths for use at hub or terminal sites
• 9 Wavelength Base Red Filter
• 9 Wavelength Upgrade Blue Filter
• Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers (OADM)—The Cisco ONS 15216-OADM consists of a 1-channel unit and a 2-channel unit that provide ITU wavelength filtering for sites along an optical DWDM ring.
• 1-Channel, Optical Add/Drop Mux
• 2-Channel, Optical Add/Drop Mux
• C-Band Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA)—The Cisco ONS 15216-EDFA provides optical amplification to extend the DWDM system's optical reach to 400km and beyond.
